Algor Mechanical Simulation SoftwareMechanical Simulation Software

Algor, one of the leading makers of software for mechanical engineers, has added new features to its pioneering Mechanical Event Simulation software. These enhancements provide mechanical engineers with new ways to simulate motion during analysis of joints and mechanisms.

The software includes new actuator elements, allowing engineers for the first time to specify contraction and extension values over time to drive motion between connected parts of assembly. Prescribed rotation and displacement allow engineers to impose motion intermittently when setting up an MES.

The new features come with Algor's Accupak/MES and Accupak/VE software. Current Algor customers with appropriate technical support and maintenance agreements can request a software update including the new MES enhancements through Algor's Web site at The cost of the software varies depending on the modules needed by each individual customer--for more information or to order, call (412) 967-2700; or e-mail: .

Valuable Math Aid

Calculus WizWolfram Research, creators of Calculus WIZ and Mathematica software, have now created a stand-alone version of Calculus WIZ. The new version, complete with specially customized mathematics engine, no longer requires you to have Mathematica.

Calculus WIZ is an interactive calculus tutorial withthorough and easy-to-use features illustrating key concepts like differentiations, curve sketching and infinite series. Calculus WIZ users can also plug actual math problems into the 'solvers' feature, allowing you to double-check your work.3-D graphics and charts enhance understanding of the material, while making the tutorials interesting and fun.

Calculus WIZ is available for $69.95. For registered users of the add-on Calculus WIZ a version compatible with Mathematica 4 is now available for download. For more information, call (800) 965-3726; or e-mail:

E-Commerce Portal

eQuorum has created, a universal portal for plotting and printing on the net. With easy-to-search lists of providers, promises to be the premier e-commerce portal for procurement of on-demand large-format print services. lists reproduction companies' locations and brief descriptions of their services, allowing users to pinpoint and do business with the reprographics firm of their choice with the click of a mouse. Users can find, organize, and review production print jobs built from native application data from their in-house network and even over the Internet.Users can also examine their plot sets in detail before requesting print services.
