Local Institutions |

|
Monday, June 21-Wednesday, June 23 Visit the North Carolina Local Institutions' displays to see the latest in student projects from several of the schools represented on the ASEE Annual Conference Local Planning Committee. This year, the local institutions will be hosting the Intercollegiate Auto Racing Association (ICAR). Now in its second full season of competition, ICAR represents students from eight engineering colleges in the southeastern United States. The ICAR student teams race 5/8th scale Legends cars, which are powered by 1300 cc motorcycle engines. The cars' fiberglass bodies are styled to mimic the classic looks of the 1920s and 1930s. Plans also call for hands-on examples of the science of measurement, known in industrial circles as metrology. State-of-the-art measuring equipment, as well as research prototypes that are accurate to within one micron (one-millionth of a meter), will be on display. Come see these and other examples of student design projects that make learning a challenging and interesting experience |
