Business-casual dress is recommended for all sessions. Dress for the picnic is casual or roaring ’20s chic. The annual awards reception and banquet are semi-formal; appropriate attire is expected.

Getting Around Chicago

The Chicago Transit Authority’s rapid transit trains are a great way to get around the city. Single ride fare on the train or bus is $1.50 for ages 12 and above. Transfers are only $0.30. Day passes are also available and include unlimited rides on trains or buses for the number of consecutive days that is purchased. Passes can be purchased online at www.transitchicago.com, at both O’Hare and Midway airports and at visitor information centers.

Housing Reservations
For best availability and immediate confirmation of your hotel assignment, make your reservations online at www.asee.org/annual2006/. Faxed or mailed housing requests will take longer to process, and choice hotels may not be available. The ASEE Housing Office must receive all reservations on or before Wednesday, May 17, 2006.

Confirmation
The ASEE Housing Office will e-mail, fax or mail a confirmation of your reservation within 72 hours of receipt of your request. This is the only confirmation you will receive: do NOT expect to receive a confirmation from the hotel.

Blocks of rooms may be reserved initially under one company name. A complete and final list of names must be submitted to the Housing Office on or before Wednesday, May 17, 2006.

Housing assistance will be available after Wednesday, May 17, 2006, but availability is limited. At this time housing will not be available online and arrangements must be made directly with the ASEE Housing Office by calling (703) 770-3916 or calling toll-free at (800) 860-5398.

Online: To make your housing reservation online, visit http://www.asee.org/annual2006/. Reservations are made in real-time so that inventory will be deleted from the rooming block. You may also revisit the site and make necessary cancellations, date and name changes.

Room Deposits
All reservations for ASEE 2006 require a $175 or a $200 deposit. A room deposit of $175 is required at the Best Western Inn and the Hyatt Regency, and a $200 deposit is required at the Fairmont Hotel Chicago, Hotel 71 and Swissotel. Reservations cannot be processed without a deposit. Payment may be made by major credit card or check drawn on a U.S. bank made payable to the ASEE Housing Office. Your credit card will be charged immediately, and the deposit will appear on the hotel room account at check-in. All reservations are guaranteed for late arrival.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations and date or name changes must be received by Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Cancellations made after this date will result in the loss of one night’s room charge plus tax.

Hotels/Direct
Hotels cannot process reservation forms. Requests sent directly to hotels or to ASEE headquarters will be substantially delayed. If you need to make additional reservations, copies of the housing form are acceptable. Mail or fax your list with payment information.
