a contributing editor for Washingtonian
magazine and a freelance writer
and consultant. He writes for a
number of publications including
The Chronicle of Higher Education
and USA Today. He is the
former managing editor of U.S.
News & World Report's
"America's Best Colleges"
and "America's Best
Graduate Schools" ranking
projects.
The
multi-layered photo illustration
in "A
New Option" was done by
artist Bryan
Leister, whose work
has appeared in a variety of media,
from Fortune 500 companies to major
magazines. His illustrations have
also appeared in the major annuals,
including Communication Arts,
Print, Graphis, and American
Illustration. He has won Gold
and Silver medals from the Society
of Illustrators/NY.
Chris
Pritchard is Prism's
correspondent in Australia. He regularly
contributes items to the briefing
section, including "Distracting
the Pain" in this month's
issue. Pritchard is based in Sydney,
where he covers countries in the
Asia-Pacific region for publications
such as U.S. News & World
Report, the Wall Street
Journal, and the British Broadcasting
